KEN TSCHUMPER ENDORSED BY DFL

DFLers in District 31B endorsed Ken Tschumper of La Crescent at their March 26th endorsing convention in Rushford. Tschumper, a dairy farmer in La Crescent Twp, was endorsed near unanimously on the first ballot.

“I have been involved in the DFL for many years. I greatly value and appreciate the endorsement by local Democrats”, Tschumper said. “Local Democrats reflect a true cross-section of our State. I think we have the same priorities that a majority of Minnesotans have”.

Tschumper’s comments to the convention focused on improving education, making health care more affordable and reforming campaign finance laws.

Ken Tschumper was a critical player in defeating the tire burning plant proposed in Preston, MN. While working with Ken against the tire burner, Ken had the idea, that we the people could defeat the tire burner at the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Citizen Board Hearing rather than wait for the lawsuit to be heard in court.

Ken is a person who is not only intelligent but also has a good “moral compass”. As long as we have known Ken, he has always fought and stood for what is right over what would benefit the few at the expense of the many. We think Ken is the person to best represent all of us-the many, not just the privileged few.

Every year college students have to deal with increases in college tuition, some with double digit percentage tuition increases.  Most college students don't have professional jobs and many students work in retail or customer service.  Earning just over minimum wage, working in this industry I've never received or know of anyone that's received a double digit percentage wage increase every year. If this trend continues we are seeing a formula for disaster.

Putting yourself through college should be hard.  I like that it's difficult because we know that anything that's worth doing isn't easy.   Graduating from college will be an accomplishment that will bring me a great deal of pride for the rest of my life.  I'm not looking for a handout but we need to make this just a little easier. I fear that college will become an institution where either only the select will go or that we will make it so difficult to afford to go that the cost and the debt we must take on will out weigh the benefits of going.

A few weeks ago I met a man named Ken Tschumper.  Ken is the DFL party endorsed candidate running for the Minnesota House District 31B.  Having a wonderful conversation with Ken he explained a clear vision of where he feels the education system in Minnesota needs to be.  Ken understands that the strength of our economy and placing higher
education as one of our top priorities are tied together. Educated citizens will provide our local economy with the tools they need to stay competitive in the ever expanding business of our state and our country.  Also, educated citizens bring home higher salaries and can invest much more of their money into local business than those making
much less.

So look for Ken out on the campaign trail, he has clear-cut principles and shares the values of the people of our district.
